These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your purchase and use of The Unsexy Stack ("the Product"), a FastAPI + Next.js 15 SaaS boilerplate sold by Mayhew Technology LLC ("we," "us," or "the Company"). By purchasing or using the Product, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not purchase or use the Product.
1. Definitions
- "Product" means The Unsexy Stack source code, documentation, tests, and any accompanying materials delivered after purchase.
- "You" (or "Licensee") means the individual or entity that purchased a license.
- "End Product" means a SaaS application, website, or software product you build using the Product as a foundation.
- "White-Label" means deploying or selling an End Product under a different brand on behalf of a client, with no visible reference to The Unsexy Stack.
2. License Grant
Upon purchase, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the Product subject to the restrictions of your purchased tier. The license is effective immediately upon delivery.
The whole point of this product is for you to build and sell SaaS applications with it. You may modify, extend, and deploy the code in any End Product you build. There is no royalty, no revenue share, and no recurring fee.
3. Restrictions
Regardless of your tier, you may NOT:
- Redistribute the Product (or any substantial portion of it) as a boilerplate, starter kit, template, or code generator — whether free or paid.
- Resell the source code itself. You are selling what you build with it, not the boilerplate.
- Create a competing product — a product whose primary purpose is to serve as a SaaS boilerplate or starter template.
- Share your license with individuals or teams beyond the limits of your tier.
- Claim authorship of the unmodified Product code or misrepresent its origin.
If you're unsure whether a use case is allowed, email us. We want you to build things — we just don't want copies of the boilerplate floating around.

- Support: Community (GitHub Issues)
Professional ($147)
- Projects: Up to 3 End Products
- Developers: 1 developer (you)
- White-label: Not included
- Support: Email support (48-hour response, business days)
Agency ($297)
- Projects: Unlimited End Products
- Developers: Up to 10 developers within your organization
- White-label: Included — you may build and deliver End Products under your clients' brands
- Support: Priority email support (24-hour response, business days) + 1 onboarding call

5. Intellectual Property
The Product is and remains the intellectual property of Mayhew Technology LLC. Your license grants usage rights — not ownership of the underlying code, architecture, documentation, or brand assets.
Any End Products you build are yours. We claim no ownership over your modifications, your business logic, your data, or your users.
Third-party open-source libraries included in the Product retain their original licenses (MIT, Apache 2.0, etc.). Those licenses are documented in the Product's dependency files.
6. Payment & Delivery
The Product is sold via Gumroad (shop.alexmayhew.dev). All payment processing is handled by Gumroad. By purchasing, you also agree to Gumroad's Terms of Service.
Delivery is digital and immediate. After payment, you will receive access to download the Product. All prices are in USD and inclusive of any applicable platform fees. You are responsible for any taxes applicable in your jurisdiction.
7. Refund Policy
We offer a 30-day, no-questions-asked refund policy. If The Unsexy Stack isn't right for you, email [email protected] within 30 days of purchase and we will issue a full refund.
Upon refund, your license is revoked and you must delete all copies of the Product from your systems. You may not continue using the Product or any End Products built with it after a refund.
8. Support
Support scope and response times vary by tier (see Section 4). Support covers:
- Setup and installation questions
- Clarification of Product architecture and patterns
- Bug reports in the Product code as delivered
Support does NOT cover:
- Custom feature development for your End Product
- Debugging your modifications or business logic
- Third-party service configuration (AWS, Vercel, Stripe, etc.)
- General programming instruction
9. Disclaimers & Warranties
The Product is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Specifically, we do NOT warrant that:
- The Product will meet your specific requirements or expectations
- End Products built with the Product will achieve any particular level of performance, uptime, or scalability
- The Product is free of bugs, errors, or security vulnerabilities
- The Product will be compatible with future versions of its dependencies (FastAPI, Next.js, Python, Node.js, etc.)
This is source code, not a managed service. You are responsible for your own deployments, infrastructure, security hardening, and production operations.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mayhew Technology LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your use or inability to use the Product
- Any bugs, errors, or vulnerabilities in the Product or your End Products
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or transmissions
- Any downtime or data loss in your End Products
- Any third-party conduct or content
Our total cumulative liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mayhew Technology LLC, its owner, and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Product
- Your End Products and the services you provide to your own users or clients
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
12. Termination
Your license is perpetual as long as you comply with these Terms. We may terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms (particularly the restrictions in Sections 3 and 4) and fail to cure such breach within 15 days of written notice.
Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Product and delete all copies. End Products already deployed in production at the time of termination may continue to operate, but you may not create new End Products or make new deployments using the Product.
13. Modifications to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated via email to the address associated with your Gumroad purchase.
Your continued use of the Product after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with any changes, your remedy is to stop using the Product.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Product shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.
